A thread that connects us all

Every material has a past life. We believe the best things are built from the ones that have already proven themselves.

The Origin

It started with a question:what gets thrown away that shouldn't be?

Filorosso was born in North Hollywood, California, from a belief that American craftsmanship and circular thinking belonged together — that the most compelling materials were the ones that had already lived through something. Not manufactured for aesthetics. Not engineered to be disposable. Materials with actual histories.

The brand's first material was dead stock denim, repurposed into face masks at a time when the world suddenly needed them. That project proved what the founders had suspected: that previously used goods, handled with intention and skill, could become something more interesting than anything made from scratch.

The question was never "what can we make." It was always "what's worth saving — and what's the best possible second life for it."

Fire hose answered that question in a way nothing else could.

The Material

Retired fire hose. The most honest material we know.

When a fire department retires a section of hose, it isn't because the hose broke. It's because standards demand only the absolute best for the men and women who carry it into danger. The retired hose is still extraordinary — it has simply done its first job and is ready for its second.

Filorosso recovers that hose before it reaches a landfill. By rerouting thousands of pounds of retired fire hose from the waste stream, the brand gives one of the toughest materials ever manufactured a new purpose — worn on the bodies of the people who carry it forward.

Fire hose is engineered to withstand extreme heat, enormous pressure, and thousands of operational deployments. That same toughness is what makes it an extraordinary belt material — thicker, stronger, and more resistant to wear than leather, nylon, or any conventional alternative.

All hardware is finished with American Steel — bright, precision-finished, and built to the same standard as the material it holds together. It will not tarnish, fade, or corrode with normal use.

Materials with a history

Every Filorosso product begins as something that already existed — retired fire hose, rescued before it reached a landfill. We start where others stop.

Craft with a purpose

The hose is cut, cleaned, and built by hand into something meant to be worn every day for the rest of your life. Nothing about that process is accidental.

Objects built to outlast

A 100-year guarantee isn't a figure of speech. It is our commitment that the things we make will outlive the trends, the seasons, and the moment they were bought.

How we got here

The story, in four chapters.

Dead stock. A pandemic. A proof of concept.

Filorosso's first product wasn't a belt. It was a face mask — made from large lots of dead stock denim that would otherwise have been discarded. The project wasn't planned as a business. It was a response to a crisis, and a proof that materials with a past life could serve a purpose in the present one. The lesson stuck.

Fire hose. The material that changed everything.

When the right material arrived — authentic retired American fire hose, recovered in large lots from fire departments across the country — the path became clear. Here was something that had fought fires, protected communities, and been built to a standard most materials never approach. It deserved a second life equal to its first one.

A small team. A very high standard.

Every Filorosso product is designed and handmade by a small team of skilled craftspeople in North Hollywood, California. Each maker has learned from those who came before and passes that knowledge forward. The team is small by intention — not as a limitation, but as a commitment to the quality that only comes from hands that know exactly what they're making.

Giving back to the people behind the material.

The fire hose at the center of every Filorosso product was carried by firefighters who ran toward things most people run away from. Honoring that is not optional. Five percent of every purchase goes directly to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation — supporting the families of those who gave everything in service to their communities.

our philosophy

"Craftsmanship is our shared history. Every FILOROSSO creation is made for the future, from materials that carry the past."
